Location
Pang Soong Lodge is located just over an hour’s drive east of Chiang Mai city from the airport or railway station. The lodge is situated on the banks of the Mae Lai stream and at the entrance to the 30 sq. km. Mae Lai Forest. The seasonal evergreen forest is diverse in species, to an extent comparable to the lowland tropical rainforests found in the SE Asia. The forests are managed by the local Khon Muang people of Ban Mae Lai, who have used the forest for hundreds of years. Traditionally this has been for fermented tea (cha miang) and now increasingly for coffee (arabica). The forest includes the headwater catchment area of the Mae Lai stream and its tributaries.
